For anyone who doesn't live in the UK or Europe and wonders what all the poppies are about, you could do a lot worse than watch these clips, one of which is from my friend Dev's blog:

It's the second clip - if you want to see the really poignant bit fast forward to about 13 minutes -I warn you, it's unbearably sad.
